Steam Room or Sauna
One of the many ways people relax themselves and indulge in a pleasant experience is by using a steam room. A steam room can either be built in your home or you can use it at a fitness facility or even a spa. It is basically a room that contains a steam generator and you can sit inside the hot temperatures that are created for a certain amount of time. This experience provides many health benefits as well as peace.
While many people use steam rooms, there are others who use saunas which are quite similar to steam rooms but still have their differences. This article will map out some of the differences and similarities between a steam room and a sauna.
All these temperature and climate differences are because these rooms are constructed in different ways using different materials. A steam room is heated with a steam generator where steam is fed into an airtight room and remains inside to create 100% humidity. A traditional sauna, on the other hand, creates heat using stones situated on a heater and heaters can be either electric or wood-burning. This is what makes a steam room distinct from a sauna as well because a steam room always has steam or mist while a sauna can create steam if water is poured over the heated stones. The steam quickly dissipates and temperatures rise when the steam is created in a sauna.
These rooms are also created with different materials. A steam room will have materials that retain moisture that is created from the steam including ceramic tile. They will generally have slanted ceilings to prevent buildup from the steam to fall onto the bather. Saunas, on the other hand, are made of wood and have wooden benches for sitting.
Although it depends on personal preference when choosing between a steam room and sauna, many people enjoy steam rooms for various reasons. Because of the construction and materials, a steam room may be easier to maintain. Wooden construction may require more cleaning and maintenance because wood is harder to take care of. Steam rooms will let you enjoy a session for a longer time because the temperatures are not as high and it is easier to breathe moist air. Moist air is also better for respiratory problems. Above all, a steam room is beneficial for a number of health reasons and ultimately gives a relaxing experience.
